Oggi vi presentiamo un podcast intenso e bellissimo. Fabian Kempe, in arte Korridor è uno dei nuovi nomi che stanno delineando scenari interessantissimi. Le sue produzioni sono state pubblicate da altrettanto valide labels come la Noctambular, la Hypnos e la Northern Electronics. Questo podcast è stato possibile grazie alla collaborazione con Unibeat Festival 2016, evento italiano nel quale Korridor si è esibito lo scorso 27 Maggio. Buon ascolto!
Per iniziare puoi dirci in che modo ti sei avvicinato alla produzionemusicale ed all’arte del djing?
Tutto è iniziato nel periodo del liceo, quando qualcuno ha rubato tutti i miei dischi ed un ragazzo un po più grande di me mi ha prestato un cd pieno di techno, trance ed hardcore.
Ricordo che c’era un’atmosfera molto seria sul cd e questo mi ha colpito davvero profondamente. Ho visto il futuro, ho visto la fantascienza, finalmente qualcosa che potrebbe mettere le parole in tutte le copertine dei libri che ho visto nella collezione di papà, erano i classici di Isaac Asimov e simili.
La stessa settimana ho anche scoperto come fare musica e fondamentalmente iniziato a farlo sul computer di mia madre. Poco dopo sono stato invitato al centro giovanile dove si poteva anche praticare il Djing, e questo è quello che ho fatto per gli anni a venire. Credo fosse intorno al 2000.
Come definiresti/descriveresti la musica che ami proporre?
Sono dell’idea che le parole non dovrebbero descrivere la musica, rischierebbero di distruggerla. So che molte persone lo definiscono come poliritmico, ipnotico e vicino alla trance, mi piace questa definizione e credo in fondo sia giusta. Mi diverto molto mentre suono, io stesso sono veramente ipnotizzato durante i miei set. Mi piacerebbe suonare un tamburo per 5 minuti prima dei miei liveset, sarebbe una buona lezione per far capire quello che veramente tutti cerchiamo: il ritmo!
Potresti descriverci il tuo step in studio? Con cosa produci musica attualmente?
Il mio vecchio ed amato computer del 2008 con installato sopra Windows XP. Non muore mai, ed ho intenzione di utilizzarlo per i prossimi 20 anni. Ho due studi nella stessa stanza, uno con il computer ed un’altro con alcuni synth come il Korg MS-20, un Alpha Juno 1, un Eurorack, un vecchio mixer analogico ed un Tinysizer.
Dove hai registrato il podcast? E cosa puoi dirci in merito?
Questo podcast è stato registrato lo scorso Marzo in Italia. E’ un live che ho suonato in molte differenti versioni in molte parti del mondo, nessuno lo ha sentito ancora fuori da quei live. Non vedo l’ora di mostrarlo in realtà perché contiene alcune delle mie idee più folli. L’intro è probabilmente la mia parte preferita perché mostra il mio lato melodico. Molte persone hanno accolto con calore questo set nei clubs…
Su cosa stai lavorando al momento?
Sto lavorando ad un album ed a diversi Ep per delle labels veramente ottime, poi sto pianificando un tour in Asia e cominciando a vagliare l’ipotesi di lavorare a dei video da sincronizzare con i miei set, questo sarebbe veramente incredibile.
Chi o cosa è la tua maggiore ispirazione?
Ritmo, armonia, disarmonia, estetica, timbri e le persone in generale. Alcune amicizie particolari possono fungere da ispirazione, ricordo qualche anno fa abbiamo avuto un periodo veramente ricco di belle vibrazioni con i miei amici ed ho composto e dedicato un brano ad uno di loro. L’ho fatto poi sentire a tutti, è stato un momento molto emozionante.

Today we present an intense podcasts by Fabian Kempe aka korridor. He is one of the new interesting artists in Europe. His productions have been published by labels such as Noctambular, Hypnus and Northern Electronics. This podcast was made possible thanks to the collaboration with Unibeat Festival 2016.
To start out, can you tell us how you got into djing and producing electronic music?
It started in school in 6th grade when someone stole all my records and a guy abit older then me lent me his cd full of techno, trance and hardcore. But i remember it was more of the serious vibe on the cd. It really affected me deeply. I saw the future, I saw science fiction, finally something that could put words into all book covers I saw in my dads book collection at home that were the classics by Isaac Asimov and the likes.
Same week I also discovered how to make music and basicly started to do it at my mums computer. Abit later I was invited to the youth center where you could also practive DJing, and that is what i did for years to come. Remember this was in 6th grade around the year 2000.
How do you define/describe the music you make and play?
Words should not describe it, it can easily destroy it. Thought many people seem to define it as polyrythmic, hypnotic and trance-inducing. Well, I like “extas state of mind” so I guess it’s right. I just want it to sound “sick”. I’m enjoying it as much as everyone else when I play it, I can also be very hypnotized during a set. I would like to play a drum on stage for 5 minutes before my gig someday, it’s a good lesson in the foundation of what we are all seeking, the rhythm.
Could you describe your current studio setup? What are you making music with?
My old beloved computer from 2008 that uses Windows XP. This computer never dies, I plan to still use it in 20 years time. But I have two studios in the same room, this one and the one were my live laptop is, there are some synths there like Korg MS-20, Alpha Juno 1, Eurorack modules, old analog mixer and a Tinysizer.
Where did you record this podcast and what can you tell us about it?
This podcast was actually recorded in Italy in march. It’s the live set I played many different versions of in that month in europe and in russia, Noone has untill now heard it again. Can’t wait to show it actually, some of my most crazy ideas inside it. The intro is probably my favorite part, you can hear my melodic side there. Alot of people have enjoyed this set in clubs, well over 1000.
What are you working on at the moment?
Album, and new EPs for some really cool labels. Keep an eye out for that, especally the album. Aswell an asian tour is in the early stages of planning. In the future I also want to work with analog video signals and sync it with my live sets, that would be amazing, I have started to look into it.
Who/what is your biggest inspiration?
Rhythm, Harmony, Disharmony, Estetics, Scales and Timbre and other people. Normally can friends act as inspiration without them knowing it, I remember a few years ago we had really nice vibes me and my friends and I could make a track just for a friend that eventually everyone heard. It was cool.
