Tin Man

E cosa puoi dirci in merito?

ENGLISH

To start out, can you tell us how you got into music production?

I started out as a record collector/music lover.  Early on, my music productions were centered around playing with sounds in the studio.  Then I started making Acid and from there other beat oriented electronic music. Then I started singing.  From there, I tried to find my own sound.

How do you define/describe the music you make and play?

I flirt with many genres. I almost always have some elements of Acid in my music.  I do feel there are many technoid gestures I make that are particular to Tin Man. I am happy to be just past the edge of techno, house, r&b, or anything on the radio.

Could you describe your current studio setup? What are you making music with?

My main synths are 303, Jupiter-8, and Korg M-1. My main drum machines are 808 and Yamaha Ry-30. My main effects are Eventide H3000 SE and Lexicon LXP-5. I also work with samples and compose, record, and edit most everything in Live.

Where did you record this podcast and what can you tell us about it?

This Podcast feature some sample based house tunes that I have written to mix in my live shows and some newly released and forthcoming tracks. It is based on my last show here in Vienna.

Can you talk about concept and music into Perfume?

Perfume sees me writing more ambitious music in a singer/songwriter tradition and all started being composed on a piano. From there, it plays with the loose connection of many genres, and eventually is grounded back to house and nightclub music.

What are you working on at the moment?

I just finished a romantic “classical” record, Vienna Blue.  I will make a melodic Acid album next.  Then a more chill electronic album.

Who/what is your biggest inspiration?

Not to sound cheesy, but “LIFE” is my inspiration. I am happy to live my life and go into the studio writing all the next songs for the next albums which are all about what is happening now and what is happening next.

What is the record you listed to most in your life? I want only one name, just the one who ended up the most in you player and why.

I listened to Pan Sonic – Vakio almost everyday when I rode the bus to college.  It reduces to the essentials emotional elements of 20th century electronic music.  I think it embodies techno at the end of the millennium.
